Supplies:
different color construction paper
acrylic sheets
brayers
styrofoam printing sheets
pencils
printing ink
scrap paper
Set up:
Set up two acrylic sheets per table. Put a spoon full of block print ink on each sheet and spread with roller.
Process:
1. Explain entire print making process while the kids are on the rug.
2. Have the kids draw a design or picture on the Styrofoam sheet with a regular pencil. They should push down hard but not too hard to make a hole. (You can talk them through the creation of a design. For example: Draw two line from top to bottom (they can be curvy, zigzag etc.) next add 3 circles, then add lots of short lines close together in one part of your design, etc...)
3. Place foam sheet on scrap paper and roll ink over the surface Put the ink side of the sheet down onto the construction paper and roll over the back of the sheet with the clean roller or press down with your hands. Make sure the sheet doesn't move Peel off the paper and reveal the print. Make more with different color paper.
